Pre-Ceremony

People are on their best behaviour at the beginning, and they are very good listeners, so I usually do some housekeeping before we begin (ie any instructions for them, ie flower petals, group photo after and where they’ll be able to get their next drink!)

Showtime!

WELCOME: take a moment for everyone to take it all in, because it’s all very exciting and you both look absolutely dashing. - SPECIAL PEOPLE: I talk about how important these people are to you, and single out very special people, usually parents, grandparents, children get their moment here to puff up their feathers with pride

YOU TWO: I go through the events that brought us to here, what led us from you two meeting each other to today. Usually there’s a bit of interaction from you guys here, but that is not compulsory, I just work with whatever you give me.

ENGAGEMENT STORY: usually I just sum this up in one sentence, unless it’s an irresistibly good story.

READINGS/INPUT FROM OTHERS/SOMETHING SPECIAL: here is where we let other people say things, if you want. Personally I don’t think anyone ever complained that there weren’t enough readings in a ceremony (lol), so if you do have someone do something, it’s great if they’ve written it themselves. We can do the witness raffle, or any other (totally optional) ’games’ here.

THE MARRIAGE: huge gear shift here into the real life adulting. You are about to get married now! I talk about the things you love about each other, and why you want to be together forever. -

YOUR VOWS: you can write these yourselves, steal them from the internet, use the example vows I’ve got here, or just say the one legal sentence required. Up to you!

RING EXCHANGE

KISS, go for gold! Have two kisses! Three kisses!! You’re married now!!

SIGNING

PRESENTATION: I present you back to the crowd, as the married couple!!

Additional Elements

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY: Do you have a guest or someone connected with First Nations People, who might like to do this?

WITNESS LOTTO: Can’t decide who to have as your witnesses? Let’s play a fun game of witness lotto, the winners get to witness and sign your marriage documents!

RING WARMING: Your rings are passed around all the guests, so they can all pour their good vibes into them and you’ll get to carry those vibes with you forever (we’ll make sure nobody does a runner).

SONGSTRESS: Want me to write a cute and funny song for you guys, about YOU, and sing it for you in the ceremony? Usually I save this kind of fun for the reception, but it also works incredibly well in a ceremony! Reach out for information about the process and the fee associated!
